Intake
Clinics
An Intake
Clinic is generally a child's first doctor's visit at Children's
Clinics. It serves to provide families with information on
the array of services available to them as well as with support
and diagnostic information related to their child's medical
condition. Prospective patients must attend the Intake Clinic
in order to determine how best their specific needs can be
met at Children's Clinics specialty clinics.
During
an extended visit, the family meets with a nurse, social worker/case
manager and a pediatrician. An audiologist is also part of
the team, providing hearing screening, especially for children
3 and under. A genetics counselor may also be present. Additionally,
enrollment, benefits coordination and questions regarding
payment responsibility are also addressed during the visit.
The set of specialty services appropriate for the care of
the specific child are described. The family leaves the Intake
Clinic with future appointment information, as well as nursing
and social work/case manager information. A follow up call
by a representative from Pilot
Parents is made in the days following the visits.
Families
are scheduled for Intake Clinic after they complete the enrollment
process.
