Health Care Support

The Director of Health Care Support oversees the departments that support the direct services provided at Children's Clinics. These include Enrollment, Scheduling, Insurance Referrals and Authorizations, and Billing; Managed Care, where issues related to the utilization of clinical services are handled; and Health Information.


Customer Service/Billing

  • Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm

Customer Service representatives are available to:

  • File primary and secondary insurance claims
    • Provide itemized account statements
  • Full payment is due at the time of service
    • Payment options: cash, check, credit card (Visa, MasterCard)

Enrollment

  • Hours: Monday & Tuesday, 7:30 am to 5 pm; Wednesday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
  • The existence of medically qualifying condition is necessary for enrollment [embedded link to Enrollment page] at Children's Clinics
  • Re-enrollment is required to maintain continuity of service
  • Re-enrollment intervals range from 1 month to 1 year, depending on the insurance program the child is covered under
  • Enrollment interviewers can assist in identifying additional programs for which a child or family may qualify

Scheduling

  • Schedule medical and dental appointments

Managed Care

  • Checks applications to see if a patient is medically eligible to be treated at the Children's Clinics
  • Reviews utilization of services, such as hospital stays
  • Pays providers for external CRS services
  • Authorizes and monitors visits at outreach clinics, held outside of Tucson in areas such as Sierra Vista and Nogales
  • Authorizes patient services such as wheelchairs, and other durable medical equipment
  • Pays vendors providing durable medical equipment
  • Maintains safety records for Children's Clinics
