The Autism Center of Excellence at Children’s Clinics is designed for recently diagnosed children with autism that also have a complex medical condition.
The Center of Excellence (COE) combines services that may be available to this patient population through a multidisciplinary clinic approach.
The patients are enrolled in a Multidisciplinary clinic which consists of a Board Certified Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician, Board Certified Behavioral Analyst, Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Registered Dietitian, Registered Nurse, Social Worker and a Child Life Specialist. The team collaborates together to assess the patient and offer an individualized treatment plan with the goal of assisting families in navigating complex medical systems. The team provides families with the support and education they require to better advocate for their child’s needs while providing direct access to a cutting edge model of care. The ideal outcome for each patient is to assist them and their family in making progress in the areas they identify as problematic, such as behavior, social skills and overall quality of life.
